Cavallino Classic 2016 serves up a Ferrari feast

Each year Ferrari lovers – along with some of the rarest Ferrari's ever seen – flock to Palm Beach, Florida, for a five-day celebration of the Ferrari brand. It's called the Cavallino Classic, and includes numerous track events, educational symposiums, a driving tour and of course, parties. But the biggest show of all is the Concorso d'Eleganza on the Lawn at the Breakers, a celebrated grand hotel in Palm Beach where this month some 140 rare and pristine Italian sports cars, many worth millions of dollars, were on display for both admiration and scrutiny by some of the toughest judges in the land.

MIT engineers win Hyperloop pod competition, will test prototype in mid-2016

The Hyperloop's journey from audacious concept to a functional, superfast transport system went up a gear over the weekend with more than 115 engineering teams descending on Texas A&M University to present passenger capsule designs in SpaceX's Hyperloop Pod Competition. An MIT team took out first place in the contest, and along with 22 other top designs it will now build human-scale prototypes to test out at SpaceX HQ later in the year.

California to get utility-owned EV charging stations with dynamic pricing

The California Public Utilities Commission has approved a pilot program that will see public utility San Diego Gas & Electric install and operate 3,500 new charging stations for electric vehicles. Charges for plugging in to charge an electric vehicle will vary according to time of day in a scheme meant to encourage off-peak charging when renewable power sources are more plentiful.

The flight of the 737 MAX 8 began at 9:46 am PST from Renton Field in Washington State and ended at Boeing Field in Seattle at 12:33 pm. The flight marks the start of Boeing's test flight program for certification and delivery.

Review: MagLOCK magnetic pedals should attract a certain crowd

Many mountain bikers swear by the pedalling efficiency of so-called clipless pedals, in which a steel cleat on the bottom of each shoe engages a spring-loaded mechanism in the pedal. Some other riders, however, just don't like the idea of being "snapped in" like that. It was with this in mind that cyclist Dave Williams created MagLOCK pedals. They're non-threatening platform pedals, that keep the user's feet in place using magnets instead of mechanisms. We recently had a chance to try them out, and generally liked what they had to offer.

Ultra Pod driverless shuttles to be trialed in London this summer

Later this year, a fleet of driverless vehicles will take to the streets of the London borough of Greenwich. An all-British endeavour, the project is a joint venture between Heathrow Enterprises, Oxbotica and Westfield Sportscars. The vehicles themselves will be developed from an existing fleet of automated pods used for short journeys across Heathrow Airport, which were first brought into operation almost five years ago.
