Knaus turns the VW Crafter van into a new type of CUV, a caravanning utility vehicle

While Volkswagen was exploring the Crafter camper van concept of the future, Knaus was busy moving its own Crafter-based camper van from concept to reality. After showing one of the first camper van conversions based on the new Crafter, the Saint & Sinner concept, Knaus has proceeded with the production Boxdrive camper, and it's no longer calling it a camper van but a CUV - that is, caravanning utility vehicle. We're not sure it breaks the mold into its own vehicle category, but the Boxdrive is a roomy, versatile VW camper van with tech in all the right places.

Asteroid probe snaps Mother Earth following successful fly-by

On September 22, NASA's OSIRIS-REx spacecraft successfully completed a gravity assist flyby with Earth, that has set the probe on a course to rendezvous with the asteroid Bennu next year. At its closest point, OSIRIS-REx flew within 10,711 miles (17,237 km) of Earth's surface, and has captured some stunning imagery in the days following its vital pass.

Aston Martin dives deep with new Triton submarine

After refining its nautical skills on the AM37 powerboat it showed at last year's Monaco Yacht Show, Aston Martin is back in Monaco talking up another project that puts its design expertise to use at sea. With the Project Neptune submersible, Aston declares its intent to send vessels plunging below the waterline, in addition to speeding across the surface of sea and land.
