It was a robot jamboree as three autonomous Mars rovers went recently through their paces in a Mars-like corner of the Sahara Desert in Morocco. Overlooked by over 40 engineers and organized by Germany's DFKI Robotics Innovation Centre, the meeting was designed to test automated navigation and other space robotics technologies at five different sites in anticipation of the day when planetary rovers are a routine part of space exploration.
