Albert Einstein starred once more at auction yesterday when his pocket watch (US$352,000), leather jacket ($146,000), childhood building blocks ($82,000) and a one-page personal letter ($98,000) all sold well above estimate. Science's rock star might have attracted global interest to the auctions, but it was the world's most famous flower book (Hortus Eystettensis by Basilius Besler - $2.5 million), the very first book on heliocentric theory (De Libris Revolutionum by Rheticus - $2.4 million), and a number of landmark scientific works by Sir Isaac Newton, Galileo Galilei, Johannes Schoner and Luca Pacioli that really lit up Christie's London sales.
