There is no doubt that intelligent driving will yield dramatic fuel consumption improvements and the results of this week's MPG Marathon emphasise that. The 2016 winner was a 1.6 liter diesel Mazda 2 1.6d Sport Nav which delivered 88.87 mpg (6.9% better than manufacturer's claims) and a 5.0-litre V8 Ford Mustang finished the course with 36.6 mpg, a 75 percent improvement over the car's official economy figure.
