Ninety-four percent of the population is threatened with extinction, according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature, with habitat loss caused by the clearing of Madagascar's forests a big reason why. Researchers now have a new tool at their disposal, however, in the form of lemur facial recognition software that can help identify individual lemurs and inform long-term conservation strategies.
