A team of researchers homed in on the relationship between sleep and pain in a new study using functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging to identify the differences in brain activity while processing pain between sleep deprived subjects and well rested subjects. The results revealed sleep deprivation seems to block the parts of the brain that release natural analgesics in relation to pain sensitivity.
